Entering the African market!

Chinaway auto parts shine at the 2025 South African Frankfurt Auto Parts Show

South Africa is famously known as "Africa's Detroit," with its automotive industry playing a vital role in the nation's economy—accounting for 7.53% of the country's GDP and serving as South Africa's largest manufacturing sector.

01 Exhibition Overview

In South Africa, 7.53% of the GDP is generated by the automotive industry, which hosts production bases of seven world-class automakers, including BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, and Volkswagen. With an annual output exceeding 500,000 vehicles, the country has rightfully earned the nickname "Africa's Detroit." This vibrant "Golden Land" of South Africa, with its robust industrial foundation and promising market prospects, is now extending a warm welcome to global automotive supply chain companies. For Chinese auto parts firms like Chinaway, the business opportunities here are far more dynamic and diverse than one might imagine. The exhibition highlights key chances for growth in Africa's Detroit—South Africa's thriving automotive hub.

03China's Africa Strategy

South Africa's automotive industry exports products to many countries and regions around the world, with Japan accounting for 29%, Australia for 20%, the UK for 12%, and the U.S. for 11%. In addition to South Africa, other African countries that export automotive products include Algeria, Zimbabwe, and Nigeria, among others, creating a widely dispersed market reach.

As South Africa and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) advance, participating companies will gain seamless access to 55 African countries, unlocking vast market potential.

Through this exhibition, Chinaway has further strengthened its presence in the African market, setting a new benchmark for Chinese auto parts companies looking to expand into global markets. Leveraging Automechanika—a globally recognized platform—Chinaway has established direct connections with distributors, agents, and key decision-makers across the automotive value chain, steadily advancing toward its goal of becoming a leading supplier of auto parts in Africa.
